Watch video below and discuss as a class. Why is it important to understand that not everything online is true/accurate - both for educational and personal purposes? Why isn't everything accurate?
Students know the information shared this week and the negative impact their actions can lead to regarding cyberbullying, sharing personal information online, creating a digital image that will follow them in the future to college and careers, sexting, etc. So the big question is WHY DOES IT STILL HAPPEN? If teens are taught this information by their parents, teachers, and others, why do they still post inappropriate images or use social media to say cruel things? Why do they sext or share personal information online, and in some cases, arrange to meet someone they met online?
Once final discussion is completed, teachers need to verify they have completed this year's Federal Mandated Internet Safety training by completing the form linked on Teacher Completion Form page.
